The most frequent complaint isn't that the transplant "failed", but that the result didn't match expectations: people expected a full, thick head of hair from one session when their loss needed more, or their donor area couldn't support that coverage.

Red flags to watch for

Patient stories show the same warning signs again and again:

• No doctor's review before booking: if a sales coordinator is your only contact, the clinic may put volume before care
• Unclear price: ask what is included and who performs each step
• Guaranteed graft counts before assessment: "5,000 grafts guaranteed" before anyone has seen your scalp is a sales tactic, not medicine
• No results to show: none at all, or only a few hand-picked ones
• Pressure to book now: "this price is only available today" is a red flag

How to make a decision you won't regret

Patients with good outcomes tend to prepare the same way: they research for months, not days, talk to 3 or more clinics, ask who performs each step, set expectations from their donor area, and don't choose on price alone.

A second opinion on your plan, even from a clinic you won't use, shows whether the first clinic's graft estimate and approach are reasonable.

The 12-month patience rule

Many people feel regret during the "ugly duckling" phase, after the transplanted hair sheds and before new growth comes in (usually from months 3–4). This is expected. Wait at least 12 months, and ideally until 18, before judging the result.
