Does the season matter?
The short answer: a hair transplant can be done any time of year. Each season has its own pros and cons for travel comfort, availability and recovery.
Winter (December to February)
- Pros: less sun to worry about during recovery; wearing a hat doesn't look out of place; fewer tourists; Istanbul is beautiful in winter.
- Cons: cold weather (5–12°C / 41–54°F), shorter days, and busy airports around the holidays.
- Good for: people who want to recover discreetly.
Spring (March to May)
- Pros: mild weather (15–22°C / 59–72°F) for sightseeing between appointments; new growth typically starts 3–4 months later, around summer.
- Cons: demand starts to rise before summer; some rain in March and April.
- Good for: most people.
Summer (June to August)
- Pros: easy to combine with a vacation; long days.
- Cons: hot weather (25–35°C / 77–95°F), with strong sun and sweat that can irritate healing grafts; the busiest time at clinics.
- Good for: people with flexible schedules, or who want to combine the trip with a family vacation.
Fall (September to November)
- Pros: pleasant weather (15–25°C / 59–77°F), fewer crowds, and growth is typically well under way by the next summer.
- Cons: holiday scheduling later in the season can be tricky.
- Good for: planners who want visible growth by next summer.
My take
Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are the sweet spots: comfortable weather and good clinic availability. Plan 1–2 months ahead whatever the season. My package prices are the same all year.
